How it's made

The yarn is bound, dyed, unbound and dyed again before it ever reaches the loom. Aligning those pre-dyed threads is the hard part, and the small imprecisions are exactly what produce ikat's soft feathered edges. Woven as silk velvet, the pile then catches light at different angles, so the greens and ambers read warmer or cooler depending where you stand.

Every piece is different. The motif is cut from a continuous length of handwoven cloth, so the pattern will land differently on your cover than on the one photographed, and colour saturation varies between dye lots. That variation is the nature of the craft. If you need two that closely match each other, order them together and tell us in the order notes.

Living with it

Strong enough to carry a neutral room on its own, and warm enough to sit against tan leather, walnut or rattan without fighting them. Best used singly or as a pair rather than in a crowd of patterns.

Care

Dry clean only. Do not machine wash, wring or tumble dry. Keep out of prolonged direct sunlight, which fades silk dyes. A light steam held at a distance will lift a flattened pile.
